This started the way a lot of coffee rabbit holes do: one machine, then a better grinder, then a scale, then a genuinely embarrassing amount of time spent chasing a shot that tasted the way it did at a good café. Once you've dialed in the same setup across a dozen bags of coffee, you learn which specs actually change the cup and which ones are just marketing — and you get opinionated about it.

HomeCoffeeKit exists to pass that on without the two things that make most gear roundups useless: fake authority and mechanical spec-listing. We write about the machines, grinders, and tools people actually put on a home counter, and we try to answer the real question behind the search — which one should I buy, and what am I trading off?

How we stay honest

The gear we own gets used, dialed in, and photographed here at home — those reviews carry a "tested in our kitchen" seal. For everything else, we say plainly that we're working from specs and credible reviews, and we never imply we've had our hands on it. Independent on purpose

Keeping this site small and self-funded is the whole point. We'd rather cover a focused set of gear well — and grow it slowly — than publish a sprawling catalog of pages nobody stands behind. If we haven't reviewed something yet, it's usually because we haven't gotten it right yet.
